The team is led by Dr. Joan Meléndez Muñoz LMS MRCOG FRANZCOG a recognized specialist in Gynecology and pelvic floor dysfunctions. He is well known for his knowledge in urinary incontinence, uterovaginal prolapse, 3D / 4D ultrasound of the pelvic floor and reconstructive surgery both vaginally and laparoscopically.


Dr. Meléndez Muñoz graduated in medicine in 2004 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is a specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG) in the United Kingdom, of which he has been a member since 2013.

In 2015 he undertook a 2-year fellowship in the pelvic floor unit of Monash Health, Melbourne (Australia), to do the subspecialty of urogynecology. There he devoted himself almost exclusively to treating patients with problems related to pelvic floor dysfunction, especially urinary incontinence, prolapse, and problems related to obstetric injuries. In 2017 the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RANZCOG) elevated to the category of Fellow Dr. Meléndez Muñoz for his work, experience and contribution to the specialty during his time in Australia.

Dr. Meléndez Muñoz is currently the head of the Pelvic Floor Unit of the Gynecology and Obstetrics service of the University Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta in Girona, where apart from his clinical work, he plays an important role in both training and research projects.

He is a member of the Terminology and Standardization Committee of the International UroGynaecology Association (IUGA) and the Terminology Committee of the International Continence Society (ICS). He is also involved in the development of international guidelines and consensus document

He has presented research papers at numerous international conferences, has been invited as a tutor and moderator in international pelvic floor surgery courses and has published extensively in the field of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

At CATSP Dr. Meléndez Muñoz can dedicates his time and knowledge exclusively to patients suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction and related problems.
